Koselig has been described as a feeling of cosiness, intimacy, warmth, happiness, being content. Norwegians use it to embrace the winter and the cold, snow, and dark days which come with it.
It's more complicated than this of course and I'm sure that to understand the full meaning of koselig you need to be Norwegian or at least to have lived there for a few years.
Despite that I still think that there are elements of koselig that an old dude like me can embrace to help get through the winter.
A cosy night with a warm drink and a good book under a blanket with the lights down low. A walk on a frosty morning, all wrapped up to enjoy the fresh bracing air. Watching the snow falling gently as it settles to make a white glistening blanket on the ground.
There is a lot of pleasure to be had by taking a positive attitude towards winter rather than looking at it as something to be endured. This winter and for the remaining ones I may have left I plan to take the concept of koselig and use it to make winter a positive experience.
Peace and love x
