Pretentious? Moi?

I sometimes worry that by calling myself a poet and writer some folks may think that I'm being pretentious and of course anyone thinking that is free to hold that opinion. I am though just a bloke who likes to write and if I can get myself published all the better. I call myself a writer because I write so that's it really. I don't know why I felt the need to justify myself, it just came to me as I was straightening my beret, tightening my cravat and lighting another Gauloise.
